Minister questions plans to separate conjoined twins(Part A – Prime – Page A1 & A6)

Q1)What are some of the problems involved in separating a conjoined twin?
Q2)If you were a part of a conjoined twin, would you rather stay together with your twin for the rest of your life or would you risk both your lives to go for an operation? Why?
ANSWER
Q1)Some of the problems involved in separating a conjoined twin are surgeons have to pick one twin to die in order to save the other. Eventhrough one of them survive, he/she would often be left with serious brain damage or may be not in a good shape. There is a risk of separating a conjoined twin. One major problem which is making sure that blood supply to both brains is maintained at all times.
Q2)If i were a part of a conjoined twin, i would rather risk both our lives to go for an opertation. Because it was very inconvenient to having a conjoined twin, no matter what you do the other will know and when ever you go the other twin will come you if she doesn't like the place or doesn't want to go there so what we going to do is it respect her or respect myself? Our ideas may not be the same so it will make both of us to fight by little problem just like this and it may hurt our hearts. If this kind of thing happen, we will hate each other and our realationship will become as plain as a plain water. Once there was shows which said about twin which are conjoined and they both falled in love in the same person but the person only like her young sister after that there realationship become as plain as a plain water. Her sister was very angry, hated her young sister and she decided to go to a operation and separate themselves. After the operation, her sister killed her young sister. So you see... So i myself think that better separate each other since when small eventhrough there is a risk.

Businesses are still big on doing good(Part B - Home Section - Page B6 - The Home Market)
Q1) What are big companies doing in order to be more socially responsible?
Q2)How important it is to be socially responsible? And do you think it is still possible to make a social impact during recession?
ANSWER
Q1)Big businesses are not cutting down on their Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) programmes. However, some companies have even stepped up their efforts to fulfill their corporate social responsibilities. According to CSR Asia, Hong Kong-based firm which aims to promote good corporate citizenship in this region. Communications group Sing-Tel's CSR programme is divided into four quadrants: Community, which supports initiatives focusing on youth and education; Environment; which aims to reduce carbon emmisions and cut down on paper usage; Marketplace, which involves corporate governance; and Workplace, which provides learning and development opportunities and quality work-life balance for its staff. Companies are increasingly realising that CSR is not philanthropy and there are many ways to make a social impact without the need to spend large amounts of money.
Q2) Social responsible can help us continue work in a company and work towards a sustainable future, because it can help the company to earn more money. Sustainable supply chain, environment and communityy responsibility, nutrition and well-being and employment experience are equally important as philanthropic activites. If a company doesn't have social responsible do you think that people will work for the company and do customers want to buy thing from the company? Of course not, why because social responsible is very important. Yes, i think it is still possible to make a social impact during recession.

Save the planet? This is a job for school kids…(Part B – Home Section – Page B3)

Q1)What are some of the things that schools in Singapore are doing in order to take care of the environment?

Q2)Do you think one person's effort in reducing , reusing and recycling will make a difference in saving the enviroment? What steps have you taken in the effort to save the earth?
ANSWER
Q1)Some of the things that schools in Singapore are doing in order to take care of the environment are, for science and social studies classes, some school are asking their students to bring electricity bills from home to track their month-to-month energy use and are teaching them to save energy and at Lakeside Primary School at least half its 600 primary 4 and 5 pupil take part in such an exercise too. Pupils of Elias Park Primary contribute fruit peels to the school's three compost bins and once a month primary 3 pupils bring fruit from home as part of a healthy-eating exercise as well as they then get to throw fruit waste into the worm compost bins, which convert food waste into fertilisers. At Marsiling Secondary, all lower secondary students take an environment-education module throughout those lessons they have learnt how the Earth has been harmed.
Q2) I think that one person's effort in reducing, reusing and recycling will not make a difference in saving the environment because if only one person saving the enviroment, thousand and millon of people are not reducing, reusing and recycling so there will not make a difference in saving the enviroment but i still play my part not to litter around and if my friends throwing litter on the floor i will tell to pick it up. The steps that i taken in the effort to save the earth are using 3R-reduce, reuse and recycle by turning off the fan or air-conditioner when i am not using, sometime use laptop instead or computer, turn off the light on day time, turn off the light at the time of 10pm, study doing the day or at night when the light on for everyone to use together, turn off the televison when nobody is using, sometime let my hair nature dry instead of using the hair dryer or fan, reuse a paper which still have a blank page, use a can to make a pen holder, reuse the old file, reuse exercise book to be a notebook, reuse plastic bags, recycle the newspaper or any magazine which i do not want and recycle the bottle or can.

Reforming sex offenders
(Part B – Home Section – Page B5 – Law & Order)

Q1)How does the treatment programme of the Singapore Prison Service help the sex offenders?
Q2)Do you think that sex offenders should be given a second chance in the society? State your reasons.

ANSWER

Q1)It help them not to make their same mistakes again and let them change their attitude and the mind of sex habit by giving them the treatment programme of the Singapore Prison Service. This treatment programme do work on others except for Bala Kuppusamy and he is the only who had failed the treatment.
Q2)I think that sex offenders should be given a second chance in the society. My reasons are not every people is perfect they have done something which is againest the law, if every people do not give them a second chance do you that the world population will increase or decrease. I am not saying that every people which did something wrong which againest the law should be given a second chance. Example like killing a people, the person must hang to death. But if a prisoner like Bala Kuppusamy always come out and in, then we should not be given a secong chance to them in the society. Because they might hurt the people. If a person who is being sex by others do you think that he/she can carry the truth, of course not!
